Course Registration Information

For the current 10^th-11^th grade students: welcome to participate in the Jumpstart – Dual Enrollment program.

Here is some information about the Jumpstart – Dual Enrollment program:

1. MCPS pre-approved course list for the Dual Enrollment program
2. Here is the step-by-step application guide. After students complete Step Three, your DualEnroll account is set up, students can log-in in DualEnroll and start requesting classes there.

Please note that:

• Starting in 2023 academic year, the Dual Enrollment program become free to MCPS students.
• Use the student’s PERSONAL email to apply
• This is the live schedule for the class meeting date/time/location. Jumpstart program approves classes meet after the BCC day schedule(after 2 pm)
• The summer/fall 2023 season registration will open in April 2023.
• No hard deadline, but popular classes get to fill up very fast.
• Ms. Hu-Cotto <Yvonne.Hu-Cotto@montgomerycollege.edu> is our MC Academic advisor for the Dual Enrollment program, she will reach out to follow up on your course placement after the student requests courses in DualEnroll. You are welcome to reach out to her for any questions regarding course placements and prerequisites.
• Ms. Ammons is the Dual Enrollment Program Assistant(DEPA) at BCC.

Current 9^th-grade students, welcome to explore the Early College program.

• Early College Program Registration opens in the fall semester of the 10th grade.
• Students in the Early College Program will attend BCC full time in 9-10th grade, and attend Montgomery College full time in 11-12th grade
• Students will earn MCPS High School Diploma and a Montgomery College Associate Degree upon graduation.
• Starting in the 2023 academic ear, the Dual Enrollment program will be free to MCPS students.

In the 2023-24 academic year, these four courses are offered during P6-7 as double-period classes at BCC:

• Fall 2023:
  • - Classes on Mon, Wed, Fri; Section ID XXXXX to be updated in May 2023
  • - Classes on Tue, Thu; Section ID XXXXX to be updated in November 2023
• MATH 280 Multivariable Calculus
• BSAD 101 Intro to Business
• Spring 2024:
  • - Classes on Mon, Wed, Fri; Section ID XXXXX to be updated in May 2023
  • - Classes on Tue, Thu; Section ID XXXXX to be updated in November 2023
• MATH 282 Differential Equations
• COMM 108 Intro to Human Communication

For BCC students who are interested in these classes at BCC, the application process and eligibility requirement is the same Jumpstart program application. We will provide students with Section IDs when they become available. Students should request 7 regular BCC classes for the upcoming year during the registration. After students confirmed their Dual Enroll class(es) after May, please work with your counselor to update your next year's schedule.

MC has waived the $25.00 application fee.

Please remember all course requests must be done through your Dual Enroll Account.

Through a partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools and Montgomery College, high school students can take college-level courses at any Montgomery College campus during their junior and/or senior year or at their high school location.  Participation in the Dual Enrollment Program will give students the opportunity to earn transferable college credit, learn essential skills of time management and build self-confidence as they plan for their future and endless possibilities.   This partnership program is coordinated through the Montgomery College Office of Academic Initiatives.  For general information on the program, tuition and opportunities for the high school grant, visit the MC Office of Academic Initiatives for Dual Enrollment web site, here.

Course Description

BSAD 101 Introduction to Business – 3 credit 

An introductory course designed to survey the field of business and its environment in order to give the student a broad overview of the principles, practices, institutions, and functions of business. Assessment levels: ENGL 101/101A, MATH 050, READ 120. Three hours each week. 

MATH 280 Multivariable Calculus – 4 credit

Calculus of vector functions; analytic geometry of space; partial differentiation; multiple integrals; classical theorems of Green, Gauss, and Stokes. PREREQUISITE: A grade of C or better in MATH 182 or equivalent, or consent of department (or AP calc BC score of 4 or higher). For computation of tuition, this course is equivalent to five semester hours. Five hours each week.  

COMM 108 Introduction to Human Communication – 3 credit 

A survey course that covers communication theory and develops communication skills for personal and professional relationships in interpersonal, group, and public settings. Course content includes practice in the application of the principles of listening, verbal and nonverbal communication, group dynamics, and public speaking. Assessment levels: ENGL 101/101A, READ 120. Three hours each week. 

MATH 282 - Differential Equations – 3 credit 

First order differential equations; higher order linear differential equations and systems of linear equations; solution by power series and numerical methods; the Laplace transform and some applications. PREREQUISITE(S): A grade of C or better in MATH 182 or equivalent, or consent of department. 

Requirements for each class

BSAD 101

1. Juniors and seniors with a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 (they are eligible for the Alternative Placement Program)
2. SAT evidenced-based reading/writing score of 480+ AND SAT math score of 530+. (Students can download their SAT score report and email it to MC coordinator from their MC student email account. Their MC ID number should be provided in the email. A sample score report is attached for reference).  
3. ACT reading score of 21+ AND ACT math score of 21+. (Students can take a screen shot of their ACT scores and email it to MC coordinator from their MC student email account. Their names should appear in the screen shot and MC ID number should be provided in the email.).  
4. Students who do not meet one of the above areas can take the free assessments offered by MC.

COMM 108  

1. Juniors and seniors with a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 (they are eligible through the Alternative Placement Program)

AP calc BC test score of 4 and better (AP Class grades are not accepted). Student can download and email the AP score report to MC coordinator from their MC student email account. Their MC ID number should be provided in the email.

MATH 282

AP calc BC test score of 4 and better

Students who are given a reduced schedule to take MC classes are expected to take courses both semesters.

Early College Programs

The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and Montgomery College (MC) Early College (EC) program is offered at each MC campus, and provides qualified students the opportunity of earning an Associate Degree in a specific content area.  Participating students will complete their 11th and 12th grade years of high school while simultaneously completing their first two years of college as a full time MC student.  They will graduate with an Associate's degree (tuition free) from MC as well as a Maryland State High School diploma.
