Ms. Marie Koch 7th Grade Administrator |
Mr. Kenneth Alford, Jr. 8th Grade Administrator |
My name is Conor Beamer. I was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in College Park, MD. I attended Good Counsel High school--when it was in Wheaton--before getting my bachelor's degree in History from the University of Maryland. Go Terps! I have two Master's degrees from Loyola University; one in the art of teaching and the other in educational leadership. I also worked for the Washington Capitals hockey team for 16 years, including the Stanley Cup champion team in 2018--you'll find out quickly that I love (D.C.) sports. I also love music, especially 90s/early 2000s rap/hip hop, grunge, hard rock, etc. I aspire to try new restaurants wherever I go and enjoy hosting family and friends whenever I can. I believe that in education, building relationships, humility, trust, and collaboration to be core values. Happy to be a Bear and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your educational journey! |
Ms. Koch has worked in MCPS for 26 years, 21 years as an administrator. I have spent all but 1 year of my career in the NEC, Springbrook HS, Blake HS, and now Briggs Chaney MS. I really enjoy the NEC community and its diversity. At my core, I am most passionate about building relationships, equity and safety and security. I am high energy and prefer not sitting in front of a computer all day. I like to be interactive, visible and to learn new things when I see lessons. Personally, I am originally from Chicago and still have a strong connection to my roots. I even named my 6 year old rescue dog Capone. I enjoy spending time with friends and family and I take every opportunity NOT to have to cook. |
Mr. Kenneth Alford, Jr. has been an educator for nearly 20 years. More than half of those years have been in MCPS. He was raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland and graduated from Bladensburg High School. Mr. Alford went on to Morgan State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. He later attended Hood College to obtain his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. Prior to becoming an administrator, Mr. Alford was the Math Resource Teacher at Albert Einstein High School in MCPS for 7 years. He is married with 3 children and is as passionate about the preparation, growth and success of the Briggs Chaney Middle School students as he is his own children. Mr. Alford believes that through mutual respect, a nurturing environment that cultivates relationships, and striving for continued academic and social growth, all young people can reach their full potential with support. |
