Student Government Association (SGA)
The SGA focuses on community-building within the school and service to the community at large. The students suggest spirit days, fundraisers, and charitable service as well as meet with administration as the voice of the students.
During the beginning of the school year, SGA sponsors explain the various opportunities students have to participate in student government activities. Fifth grade students who are interested in participating in the SGA have the opportunity to submit an application to run for office. If all requirements are met, the students begin the campaigning process. The campaign culminates in a speech that is aired over CCNN. The entire student body votes electronically to select the officers. Homeroom classes also elect homeroom representatives. SGA meetings are held on a regular basis during the school day, usually during a lunch period.
