P-TECH Program seeking mentors!
The Clarksburg HS Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) program is seeking parents and community members who work in the IT (Information Technology) field who are interested in becoming mentors for our P-TECH students. The students in the P-TECH program are working towards earning their AAS degree in Network & Information Technology through a dual enrollment program between Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and Montgomery College. We are looking for adults in the Information Technology field to support our students in this endeavor. If you would like to be considered for this role, please review the general mentor expectations and responsibilities below and then complete the enrollment form . If approved, you will be notified via email of the next steps. Ideally, mentors serve until the student graduates, however, the minimum commitment is one year.
Mentor Expectations & Responsibilities:
-Attend a Mentor Training (one hour, Clarksburg HS)
-Complete the MCPS Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect online training module (approximately 30 minutes)
-Complete a background check and fingerprinting at no cost to you
-Attend an initial Mentor-Mentee Matching Meeting
-Support your mentee weekly through a telephone conversation (during the school day)
-Meet with your mentee in person quarterly (during the school day at Clarksburg High School)
