Girls on the Run 2023
Girls on the Run is happening at Flower Hill this fall! This year, participants will practice Wednesdays and Thursdays after school from 3:45-5:00 PM at the school, culminating with the 5K on November 19th. September 13th-November 19th. Open Source Phonics Resource for Families
MCPS has partnered with Open Source Phonics to provide access to resources for families. Open Source Phonics provides 120 lessons on phonics patterns, spelling rules, and decodable stories that students can use to practice skills and increase fluency. Families can visit Open Source Phonics for more information. The Open Source Phonics Resources for MCPS Families provides more information on how families can use these resources to support their children's reading and spelling skills. MAEOE Recognizes FHES as a 2023 Maryland Green School
On May 18, 2023, Flower Hill ES was recognized as a Maryland Green School by the Maryland Association of Environmental and Outdoor Education. This was a two-year process where we partnered with Nature Forward and the University of Maryland Extension SNAP-Ed, to deliver many lessons and hands-on experiences, both indoor and outdoor, around environmental agricultural topics, and importance of healthy water and food to nature and our bodies. We also had three Green Teams (grades 3, 4, and 5) that were leaders in our school community. Click here for more information.
