Instruction
Students in grades preK through grade 2 visit the library media center every week for literature appreciation, digital citizenship lessons, and information literacy lessons. Students in grade 3-5 visit every other week for lessons and have weekly opportunities to borrow books. The library media specialist also collaborates with staff to develop and implement lessons integrating information literacy skills into instruction.
Hours
The library media center is open between 8:45 AM and 3:30 PM. Students can come for Open Book Exchange during their assigned grade level time with permission from their classroom teacher.
The Library Collection
Anyone can search Fox Chapel's library collection here. Students can suggest a book for our collection in person or through this form (must be logged in to school MCPS account).
Black-Eyed Susan Book Award
The Black-Eyed Susan Book Award is a student choice award for the state of Maryland that has been awarded each year since 1992.

Check Out Limits
- Kindergarten students begin by borrowing 1 item at a time, and may move to 2 items once routines are established.
- Students in grade 1-5 may borrow 2 items and may earn the privilege of borrowing more as they demonstrate responsibility in returning books on time.
All materials are officially due two weeks from the date they are checked out. Books may be renewed multiple times as long as other students do not have them on hold.
