All Grade 2 students are screened for gifted and talented during the second semester of the school year. Grade 3-5 students who are new to MCPS or who have been recommended for re-screening (by parents and/or school staff) are screened during the first semester of each year. The data gathered on each student is used to provide appropriate differentiated instruction.

Dynamic learning environments are provided which challenge all students to develop their intellectual power, creativity, and sense of self.  Classroom instruction is differentiated for individual students by the pace and level of instruction, and the complexity and depth of the curriculum.

Many students will have the opportunity to participate in language arts programs such as Junior Great Books, William & Mary and Jacob’s Ladder. These inquiry based curriculums help to refine and extend student’s skills in reading, writing, thinking and communicating by working with complex ideas and /or rigorous texts.

Ambientes de instrucción dinámica son proveídos para desafiar a todos los estudiantes a desarrollar su poder intelectual, creatividad y sentido de si mismo.  La instrucción en el salón de clase es diferente para cada estudiante individual por el nivel de instrucción y el complejo y la profundidad del currículo. 

 Muchos estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de participar en programa de artes del lenguaje como Libros Junior Great, William y Mary y Jacob’s Ladder( la escalera de Jacob). Estan basados en el currículo para ayudar a refinar y extender las habilidades del estudiante en lectura, escritura, pensando y comunicándose trabajando en ideas mas complejas y textos mas rigurosos.
