School-Based Health Center Services
Comprehensive health services are available to eligible children attending the School-Based Health Center schools, their eligible siblings, and to selected community children in the Care for Kids program. School Health Services provides through the school nurse and school health room aide: the delivery of routine school health services, including first aid and emergency care for sick and injured students.
Health Services May Also Include
- Primary health care, routine, sports and camp physical examinations
- Early Periodic Screening Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT)
- Immunizations
- Diagnosis, treatment, referral and case management of children with acute and chronic illnesses
- Treatment of minor injuries
- Prescription and dispensation of medications
- Laboratory testing and lab work
- Coordination with primary care physicians
- Medication and treatment administration
- Hearing and vision screening referral
- Health counseling and health education for concerns such as; childhood obesity, asthma, diabetes, oral health, minority disparities and barriers to health care.
- Assistance to help parents access health care in the community
- Dental services (through Silver Spring Dental Operatory)
