Kennedy HS

History

John F. Kennedy High School opened in 1964. It was named for John F. Kennedy (JFK), the 35th President of the United States who was assassinated on November 22nd 1963. John F. Kennedy was the youngest man elected president, as well as the youngest to die. His Inaugural Address offered the memorable injunction: "Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country." Learn more about JFK.

John F. Kennedy High School originally housed grades seven through ten when it first opened. However, by 1966 a typical ninth through twelfth year high school was established. John F. Kennedy High School went through a school renovation, which was completed in 1999. Learn more about the school rededication.

Instructional Focus

As a result of the root-cause analysis, it was determined that students need daily opportunities to use academic writing and structured student discourse to demonstrate mastery of objectives aligned to assessments.

To create an ideal learning community that will prepare all students to realize their fullest potential, we develop rigorous academic programs and inclusive social structures that promote a culture of respect and high standards. Our school mascot is a Cavalier. A Cavalier is a horse soldier or knight!
