Departments
English/Reading
The secondary English Language Arts program focuses on the communication processes of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing through the study of language and literature. Courses are organized into four thematic units, each approximately one marking period in duration. Each unit addresses an over-arching theme designed to serve as a lens through which students explore the human experience across time and distance in their own writing and published exposition, narration, poetry, and drama. Enduring Understandings and Essential Questions for each unit provide a larger purpose for learning targeted content.
Each unit integrates the communication processes and contents. No one process (reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing) is taught in isolation. Neither of the contents (literature and language) is taught in isolation. Rather, students learn the dynamic relationships among them as they study the significant role language plays in literature and in the craft of expressing oneself through the written and spoken word.
Mathematics
The math department at Kingsview Middle School aligns its math goals with Montgomery County's goals. The goal of the Montgomery County Public Schools pre-K-12 mathematics program is for all students to achieve mathematical proficiency by developing both conceptual understanding and procedural fluency. The end result is the ability to think and reason mathematically and use mathematics to solve problems in authentic contexts.
World Language
Our goal is to educate students in a language and culture in order to make them a knowledgeable and active members of a global society. Students will learn to use French and Spanish for meaningful communication in both spoken and written form. We will emphasize the language as it is used in real-life situations that they will most likely encounter. Through their foreign language study, students will develop sensitivity to the cultural and linguistic heritage of other groups, understand their influence on American culture, and become prepared to participate in a society characterized by linguistic and cultural diversity.
Science
The goal of the Kingsview Science department is to offer challenging and innovative science instruction that will engage the students. Students will explore and experience the wondrous concepts in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in order to propose, test, analyze, and evaluate solutions to various real-life problems.

The team consists of general education teachers, special education teachers, related services personnel (speech language pathologist, occupational therapist, etc…) as well as para educators. Kingsview Middle School has an inclusion program with both direct and indirect special education services provided in the classroom. The inclusion classes with direct support consist of a general education classroom teacher working with a special educator; both delivering the curriculum to the entire class. Students are placed in either direct or indirect support classes based on their Individual Education Plan (IEP). The IEP team determines the class schedule in which the student will be most successful. Students are assigned a case manager who oversees their program and meets with these students on a regular basis to support their needs.
