ROSE ALVAREZ, PRINCIPAL
I am deeply honored to serve as the principal of Lakelands Park Middle School. It is my belief that there is nothing more powerful in education than a caring adult with high expectations. By pairing authentic warmth with a tenacious insistence on challenging ourselves, we can support and motivate all students to reach great heights, heights they may not have even imagined for themselves. Together, we will nurture a caring school community with a strong sense of belonging and high expectations for everyone.

SOFÍA VEGA-ORMEÑO, PRINCIPAL INTERN
I am enthusiastic about being Lakelands Park’s Principal Intern for the 2023-2024 school year. This will be my 7th year in MCPS, as I have served Magruder High School as an assistant principal and English Language Development (ELD) resource teacher for a total of three years, as well as Northwest High School as a World Language teacher. Prior to joining MCPS, I served Baltimore City Public Schools as a World Language teacher. As an Afro-Latina, former English Learner, and product of MCPS, I look forward to collaborating with community stakeholders, families, and students and utilizing my strengths in anti-bias anti-racist strategies, restorative justice training, and relationship-building skills.
