Partner Organizations
Montgomery County Public Schools, Outdoor and Environmental Education Programs The Outdoor and Environmental Education Programs (OEEP), with offices at the Lathrop E. Smith Environmental Education Center, serves students in grades K-12 throughout the county. All MCPS grade 6 students participate in the OEEP Residential Program which centers learning around the ecology of the local watershed. In addition, the OEEP Day Program, which sees 11,000 students a year, offers a variety of single-day field experiences that help students master the grade-level appropriate content and process indicators using the outdoors as a classroom. The OEEP educators also offer professional development courses and workshops for teachers throughout the year. |
Audubon Naturalist Society's GreenKids Project GreenKids is an educational outreach partnership between the Audubon Naturalist Society and Montgomery County Public Schools. This is a grant-funded program that is offered free of charge to schools that apply and are accepted to the program. During the two-year program, schools receive lessons from naturalists as well as help in creating schoolyard gardens and habitats. |
Montgomery County Master Gardeners The Montgomery County Master Gardeners work with schools to choose appropriate sites for gardens and give advice on plant selection and garden maintenance. These services are offered at no charge to the schools. |
