Hello and welcome to Kensington Parkwood. I am the proud principal of this wonderful school and since my appointment in the spring of 2017 I have been able to exemplify and bring to life my values of commitment to students, embracing creativity and establishing positive relationships. I began my career as a social studies teacher and then supported teachers as a consulting teacher and a staff development teacher in MCPS. My first position in administration was at Forest Oak Middle School in Gaithersburg MD. I remained there for seven years before moving to administration at the elementary level. I served as Assistant Principal at Cannon Road and Glenallen elementary school before my appointment as principal at Kensington Parkwood. I am excited to begin my twenty sixth year in public school education.
Our enrollment has grown to match the growth of our physical space as the result of our addition completion in 2019. We have over 600 students in our K-5 classes and Autism program. We are a proud and very active member of the Green School community and our high student performance on state and county assessment is a reflection of our committed teaching staff. We are also home to many neighborhood girl scout and boy scout troops as well as a number of after school activities.
Please enjoy your virtual visit as you explore our website and learn more about us.

Greetings Kensington Parkwood! I am honored to have the opportunity to serve this community as the Assistant Principal. I am entering my 25th year in education, 24th in MCPS. I have taught first grade, reading and math intervention, English language development, and have been a staff development teacher at schools across the county. I began my career at JoAnn Leleck ES at Broad Acres and moved to Rosemont ES, Thurgood Marshall ES, Clopper Mill ES, Ridgeview MS, Damascus ES, and served as the Assistant Principal at Brown Station ES for 4 years before coming to KPES. Throughout my career, I have brought my focus on growth through connection, empathy, integrity, and equity to my work. I am excited to do the same here at Kensington Parkwood while learning about the community and contributing to the values held.
I am a family person at heart and enjoy spending time with human and canine family members, cooking, taking adventures outside, and believe that laughter is food for the soul. I also enjoy great movies and television shows. I have two children who are 22 and 17, and were/are MCPS students.
I look forward to getting to know everyone, please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or just to say “hi!”
