    Pre Employment Transition Services: Outcomes Summer Program for Juniors & Seniors

    Two, 4-week summer sessions - Information Flyer

    (Funding is available through MD DORS Pre Employment Transition Services to qualified students)

    Outcomes has partnered with a local retailer & is offering a training and hands-on experience for students with disabilities ready to learn about the world of work. Outcomes' professional employment specialists will support the growth and learning of work skills that are essential to workplace success. Session includes working at a store in the community to apply, practice, and improve job skills learned at Outcomes. Located at Outcomes, with other supervised training days off site.

    Who?: High school juniors and seniors with disabilities

    CURRICULUM

    • Find your unique strengths and develop skills to be a leader in your community
    • Encourage civic engagement through learning about the legislative process and how to change problems in your community
    • Develop communication skills through social activities, role play and discussion
    • Learn about Disability Culture and the Americans with disabilities Act
    • Play games around the history of disability and explore technology and adaptations for people with disabilities
    • Explore and develop plans for the future
    • Experience "college life" through a stay at one of Maryland's universities
    • Meet professionals with a wide range of careers in Maryland who have disabilities
    • Discuss independent living and future plans with peers and facilitators to develop goals and paths to success
