TPMS Magnet Program
January 22 2023 Update
Hello Magnet Families! The end of the semester is fast approaching. This is the week to use parentVue to check your child's progress in classes and make sure that they don't have any assignments outstanding. As classes wrap up, students are working on culminating projects like programs, scene nights (see image above), National History Day presentations, Forensic investiations and more. In this week's update, I've included questions from the 6th grade SIGMA competition which Ms. Conley's students did in class. We also have information about an upcoming leadership conference for girls (1/31). The county has delayed sending out letters to new families accepted into next year's magnet program so our information night (for new families only) will be rescheduled to a date to be announced soon.
Moco EmpowHERJanuary 31st 6pm to 7:30 pm MoCo EmpowHER is an MCPS affiliated non-profit that strives to provide leadership and career opportunities for women in the county. This month, RSVP for MoCoEmpowHER’s Leadership Workshop Relay Event on January 31st! This event is ideal for anyone interested in garnering skills in public speaking, graphic design, and advocacy! The purpose of these workshops are to introduce and build skills in a variety of areas to help new and learning leaders discover their interests and passions! This is also a great opportunity for students from across MCPS to connect with one another!

January 23 to 27: 6th Grade MAP Reading tests January 25: Concert Magnet Information Night-DELAYED New date to be announced soon. For future magnet students only. Not for current magnet students. January 30 to Feb 3: 7th and 8th Grade MAP make-up tests All 6th graders are required to take the MAP reading and Math tests to assess their transition to middle school. In the last week of January, students who scored below proficiency in the Fall MAP tests will be tested again to support their progress. Books and Basketball
Books and Basketball - Friday and Saturday, February 10-11, 2023 The PTSA is thrilled to be bringing back BOOKS AND BASKETBALL, a two-day community and fundraising event at TPMS combining a teachers vs. students basketball game on Friday with a book sale on Saturday. Come for the fun, stay for amazing books for your family!
