Regina Rodriguez grew up in a small town in North Carolina, but always spent her summer vacations in Washington DC. She attended East Carolina University in Greenville NC and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Middle School Education with concentrations in Language Arts and Social Studies. After teaching in North Carolina for one year, she gave up teaching and moved to Staten Island, NY where she lived for three years. While living in New York, she worked as an administrative assistant for two clothing retail companies. During that time, she found herself thinking constantly about teaching and helping children. She decided to give teaching another shot.
While waiting for New York certification to be approved, her husband was transferred to a job in Washington DC, and they moved to Maryland. In 1996 Ms. Rodriguez started working for Montgomery County Public Schools as a substitute teacher. Her first job was teaching sixth grade English and reading at Takoma Park Middle School. She left Takoma for a "shorter" commute and spent one year at Banneker Middle School teaching Reading 6 and drama. A friend talked her into applying for a position at North Bethesda Middle School where she ended up teaching sixth grade for seven years and being a sixth grade team leader for five years.. While teaching at North Bethesda, she attended Bowie State University and earned a Master's Degree in Reading Education, and she also attended McDaniel College where she earned her Administration and Supervision Certification. In 2007, Ms. Rodriguez moved to Tilden Middle School and assumed the role of English Content Specialist. During her time at Tilden, she taught mainly eighth grade, but she also taught English 6 and Introduction to Computer Applications for one year.
Ms. Rodriguez joined the administrative team at Walter Johnson High School in July 2012. She started her journey as the 9th grade administrator for the Class of 2016 which included some of the students that she has taught the previous year. She currently supervisees ESOL and Math. Ms. Rodriguez is committed to students and the Walter Johnson Community and hopes to remain a part for many years to come
