WJ Latin Honor Society

Sponsor: Ms Karen Generose - Latin Honor Society

Meets: Rm G10 First Thursday of each month during Lunch

Purpose: The WJHS Latin Honor Society (LHS) is an organization which honors those students who demonstrate dedication to scholarship in and promotion of the study of the Latin language and Roman culture. Members of this society display a high degree of academic achievement, leadership, and integrity in the discipline. Students who receive this honor are active as scholars as they further their own understanding of the language and as tutors as they assist their fellow Latin students.

Eligibility Requirements

• at least 3 semesters of Latin
• overall A average in Latin

In order to wear the cords of LHS at graduation, a senior must continue his or her study of Latin in the senior year and tutor at least 7 times per semester

Application
To apply for LHS, a student must obtain school transcripts showing grades for all semesters of Latin taken and submit those transcripts to the society's sponsor for review.

Activities
Members of LHS must participate in LHS activities, including tutoring, fund-raising, and preparing the foreign language honor societies' induction ceremony.
