Letter from the Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians & Caregivers,
I am honored and elated to serve as the acting principal at Woodfield Elementary School. I am filled with pride to be a part of such a strong community dedicated to academic excellence and the well-being of all students. I appreciate the opportunity to work closely with each one of you, as we partner to ensure the success of every Woodfield student.
I started my journey with Montgomery County Public Schools at Jones Lane Elementary School 22 years ago. During my career, I have served in a variety of capacities, including classroom teacher, special education teacher, resource teacher for special education for Bridge services, reading initiative teacher, and assistant principal. Prior to joining MCPS, I was a classroom teacher in the D.C. public school system, teaching at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School.
In addition to these experiences, I bring the perspective of a parent to the role of principal. My husband, Steve, and I are the proud parents of three children. As a family, we enjoy spending time together, traveling, and cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks! As a parent, I understand and appreciate the trust you put in us as educators each day when you send your students to school, and I can assure you that we will treat your children with great care, as if they were our own.
I look forward to partnering with you as we enter the 2023-24 school year focused on the Woodfield traditions of excellence, relationships, and respect. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me via email at Katherine_A_Schwartz@mcpsmd.org. It’s great to be a Woodfield Eagle!
Sincerely,
Katherine Schwartz
Acting Principal
