Balancing the responsibilities of work and family can be challenging. You might be dealing with an issue which is causing anxiety or concern, or simply looking for advice on practical matters. Whatever the reason, your Employee Assistance Program provides professional, confidential support services and information on the all the issues you may encounter in life. When an individual is helped with a personal problem, job performance improves, home life improves, and everyone benefits.

How can the Employee Assistance Program help me?

We are here to provide personal counseling to you and your immediate family members and work life services to help you manage everyday challenges.

You might be:

  • feeling under pressure at work and in need of support
  • a supervisor facing a challenging situation and unsure of the best way to manage it
  • experiencing relationship issues and need someone to talk to
  • coping with grief and loss
  • concerned that you or someone you know has an alcohol or drug use problem
  • looking for financial or legal information or trying to organize day care
  • needing services/resources for your elderly parent

Your Employee Assistance Program Services:

  • No-cost, professional, confidential counseling
  • Support and guidance on legal, financial, family and work issues
  • Consultation and coaching to managers on how to approach difficult situations
  • Workshops on a wide variety of relevant topics to support employee well-being
  • Online tools and information to address your well-being and concerns

Who will know that I’ve contacted the Employee Assistance Program?

No-one will know that you have called the Employee Assistance Program. The service is confidential and you will not be identified. All discussions between you and your counselor are confidential. Information regarding your contact with the EAP will only be released with your written consent, except in a situation where there is a significant risk of harm to yourself or others; or in situations of abuse or neglect (child or elder abuse).

  • Crisis Intervention
  • Supervisor Consultation
  • Information about the Dispute Resolution Program (mediation)
  • Workshops on topics such as stress management, communication, balancing work/life
  • Legal referral services through MCEA and SEIU (both unions offer a legal network of attorneys that provide a ½ hour free consultation and a 30% discount to members)
  • Referral to financial resources and other community providers
  • Caregiver support group
