Art
Teacher - Ms. Combs
During the school year the Art program strives to involve students in various art processes and to inform students of the individuals who make contributions to the Visual Arts.
Art is an integral part of a child's development. One learns to draw and form schematic ideas (pictures associated with objects, words, and feelings) before one learns to read and write. In fact, studies show taht students who study the Arts score higher on standardized tests. To support this theory, think about how many different subject areas can be incorporated with, and learned through Art:
- History and Art History
- Science
- Mathematics
- Language Arts and Reading
Throughout the year, your child/children will study and creat artworks in the following media:
- Painting
- Drawing
- Printmaking
- Sculpture
- Collage
What makes this curriculum so interesting is the involvment of different cultures, historiesm and artists, and discussion and critique of our artwork and the artwork of others. The art room as an acedemic, as well as creative environment is always emphasized. Students are constantly learning and growing through a holistic, well-rounded experience.
While visiting Cresthaven, please take the time to walk around and look at the artwork displayed throughout the hallways of the school. We feel the artwork created by our students successfully exemplify their educational, academic, and creative learning experiences.
