Candidate Application

If you are currently a sophomore or a junior, and you have a 3.6 unweighted cumulative GPA and/or a 4.2 weighted cumulative GPA, and you are a hard-working, dedicated, honest student who is service-oriented and has strong leadership skills, then you may be a candidate for the National Honor Society (NHS).

The Poolesville Chapter of the National Honor Society is now taking applications for the 2022-23 school year. On the application, you will be asked about your GPA / WGPA, your SSL hours, your leadership experience, and why you want to be considered for membership. You will also submit the names of five (5) teachers who you will ask for recommendations. If you are in Global, Humanities, or SMCS, at least two recommendations should be from teachers who have taught you in a course related to your House (i.e., Magnet Precalculus for SMCS students) and at least two recommendations should be from teachers who taught you in a course unrelated to your House. Teachers will be provided with the online Form to recommend you; you must accurately enter their email. Please make sure to ASK them if they are comfortable recommending you before entering their email!

Google Form applications must be received by 11:59 pm on Friday June 3. New members will be notified in early September; there will be an induction ceremony held during the school day by the end of September. Remember, this is for rising juniors and seniors ONLY, and this is your only opportunity to apply for National Honor Society membership for the upcoming school year. Don’t wait -- put in your application today!

If you have any questions, please see Ms. Marshall in Room 22 before June 3rd.
