Community of Caring Value of the Month: Trust
This month our highlighted C of C value is TRUST. Below is a brief description of how we explain and model trust. Please read it, share it and discuss it with your child(ren) throughout the month. In this way, the children will be hearing a consistent message here at school and at home. Thank you so much for being such an integral part of our Westbrook Community of Caring.

A trustworthy person is honest, reliable, and loyal. This means always telling the truth, even when it is difficult. A trustworthy person can be relied upon to fulfill his or her commitments. Trustworthiness also means being loyal to friends and family members. This last concept, loyalty, can be hard for children. Loyalty to friends may cause students to feel caught between friends and what is morally right. This is especially true in regard to keeping secrets. Lastly, explain to your children that trust is built over time and that once it is broken, it can be difficult to rebuild.
To be trustworthy, you should:
- Support your family and friends.
- Tell the truth.
- Do what you say you will do.
- Be on time.
- Do what is right, even if it is hard to do.
