ELD Department Vision

Multilingual learners at Albert Einstein High School will have equitable access to grade level content and the support and resources they need to acquire the academic and social language they need to be successful, contributing members of the community within and beyond AEHS. They will graduate from high school well-prepared for all college, career, and community opportunities they wish to pursue.

ELD Department Mission

We want our students to:
* Feel safe and welcome at school and know that they are valuable members of our school community
* Practice listening, reading, speaking, and writing in English every day
* Develop the academic language needed to succeed in their content classes
* Self-advocate, ask questions, and seek help when needed
* Increase their English Language Proficiency and exit the ELD Program
* Graduate from high school

We will:
* Support and guide students in their cultural and academic adjustment to the United States
* Treat all students with respect and honor their cultures, prior knowledge, and experience
* Provide rigorous, relevant, culturally responsive instruction
* Invite, encourage, and facilitate creative, critical, independent thinking
* Work to remove cultural and linguistic barriers to parent/guardian participation in the academic lives of their children
