The College Career e-NEWS Bulletin contains college career events, the virtual high school visit schedule, Jag JOBS updates, college application resources and information, financial aid and scholarship opportunities. e-NEWS is delivered to the email inbox of our students and parents via Naviance. Academic year 2023-2024 publication date: 21 September 2023.

NEW! Career Council/National Hispanic College Fairs, Inc. 2023 College Fair Field Trip. October 13, 2023. The field trip is open to all current high school juniors and seniors, with priority given to seniors. One bus has been reserved for Northwest. Our bus will depart school at 10:30 and return to school by 12 noon. Permission and fair registration are required. Click HERE to download the College Fair Field Trip Packet. Permission forms must be submitted to the College Career Information Center no later than student lunch on Friday, October 6. NEW! A College Education Within Your Reach. The event Estudios Universitarios a su Alcance is a free workshop in Spanish and will have extensive information about admissions, financial aid, and college opportunities. The program includes presentations, a college, career and community agency fair, and campus tours. The event will take place on Saturday, September 23 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Edward St. John Learning and Teaching Center at the University of Maryland in College Park. The event is a collaboration between Prince George's County Public Schools and the University of Maryland. ALERT! University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) Meyerhoff Scholars Program (Apply to UMBC Early Action) - Nomination opens July 1, 2023 for fall 2024 entering freshmen. The Meyerhoff Scholars Program is open to all high-achieving high school SENIORS who have an interest in pursuing doctoral study in the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics and who are interested in the advancement of minorities in the sciences and related and related fields. Students can be nominated for the program and are most typically nominated by their high school administrators, counselors, and teachers. The Meyerhoff award for in-state residents ranges from $5,000 to $15,000 per academic year.
Northwest High School seniors should submit this UMBC Meyerhoff Scholars Request Nomination Form no later than October 10. Once your request is received and your counselor is in support of your nomination, your request will be processed, and you will receive a confirmation email sent to your personal and mcpsmd.net accounts. | Post 6 July 2023 |

Job Corps Resources:
- RESOURCE: Job Corps... Learn what the Job Corps can do for you. The training program is free, including housing if needed, and open to young people ages 16–24 who meet low-income and other eligibility requirements. Montgomery College has made available to students opportunities for virtual assistance for all MC related concerns and/or questions.
Montgomery College Raptor Reference Enrollment Guide. An easy to follow guide from application to enrollment that includes deadlines along with a list of programs and majors.
Apply now to Montgomery College (MC) beginning October 1 with no application fee! Waiver period is subject to change by MC without high school notification.
Guided Placement @ MC: Guided Placement is used by the college to determine college readiness for college level courses. Click here for the most current information.
- Students planning to transfer to a 4-year post-secondary institution after MC are encouraged to use ARTSYS as part of their college planning. ARTSYS is the State of Maryland Articulation Information web site. ARTSYS shows which MC courses are recommended for transferring to specific Maryland colleges and universities.
